What is this Mister Wibbles Nonsense?
Who is Mister Wibbles?
Mister Wibbles is a large, blue goldfish who lives inside my head. He swims happily in circles, occasionally coming upon a bubble. Each bubble he sees represents an idea. When he eats a bubble, the idea reaches coherence and is verbalized or enacted. I am the Bubble Keeper, and Mister Wibbles is my Bubble Tender.
Who is the Bubble Keeper?
I am 23 years old and just beginning a career in stage management. In college, I was a theater major with an art minor (mostly in photography) and still maintain connections at the small liberal arts college I called home. Currently, I’m working freelance as a stage manager, assistant stage manager, or production assistant as needed for various theaters in the area, as well as occasional jobs as a theater electrician or carpenter as the work comes. In addition, I’ve just recently started painting again, and I’m hoping to do more with both that and my photography. I pride myself in the fact that I don’t have a traditional “day job”, yet still manage to support myself quite happily and comfortably.
I live in a remarkably spacious apartment in Silver Spring with Lilit, a tyrannical housecat whose demands are usually blissfully limited to food, playtime, and attention-seeking; Lola, an African Dwarf Frog with gender-identity issues; and the lovely boyfriend who will probably most frequently be referred to as either B or BiSKit.
Life is all about the balancing act; you can’t have light without the shadow, but too much of one and you can’t see either. This is my personal blog, where I will write about whatever I damned well please. If you’ll recall the concept of Mister Wibbles, above, I have no intentions of limiting myself to organized thought—it’s really not my specialty. But I do hope to be able to keep this updated as a way mainly to keep my family updated on what I’m doing. And if anyone else finds it interesting, so much the better!
